I must say I woke up this morning feeling so unbelievably blessed to be married to the most kind, caring, selfless, generous, patient husband ever. And let me tell you why...
It all began 2 nights ago when we were crawling in to bed and those infamous words "I feel nauseated" came across my lips just before "I love you" of course. I tossed and turned and tossed and turned because I was so uncomfortable. Adam couldn't sleep either so he went downstairs to the living room. He does this when he is restless. He will usually watch TV to help him fall asleep.
Around 3:30 am, It started. I woke up with that feeling. I won't go in to too much detail, because I know you know. I could tell I was getting a fever and my stomach was churning along with the lingering nausea. I went downstairs to get some medicine and asked Adam if he would come back to bed with me because I was cold (ie fever). He did. And bless his heart I know he didn't get any rest because I was up and down ALL. NIGHT. LONG. After 4 long hours of being "sick," morning finally came and I was certain by this time I was "dying" or at least that's what I kept telling Adam. My head was on the verge of exploding along with the other parts of my body that had already exploded. That morning, he brought me Tylenol and drove all the way to town just get me some Gatorade. And if you're not familiar "all the way to town" means the closest place to get anything of that nature is 15 minutes, but he kindly went anyways. He returned and brought me some iced Gatorade, a thermometer, and more medication he thought I would need later. He offered to bring a trash can and whatever else I may need. He was so caring! He stayed home most of the morning with me just to make sure I was okay.
As the day went on, my temperature subsided, I stopped "getting sick," and was able to hold down liquids. Later that night, I thought I was finally better. I hadn't eaten anything all day and really didn't want to, but I was hungry. I was craving a strawberry cream slush from Sonic, but I settled for the Dairy Delight here in Ashland. I ordered a Reese's blizzard and Adam ordered a strawberry blizzard. When we got them, his looked and smelled better than mine. I asked if he wanted to swap and without hesitation he ate a few bites of his and handed it to me. How selfless? Anyways, when we got home I could tell I was suddenly feeling bad again. As predicted, my temperature was up and the headache was back. I moaned and groaned and moaned and groaned and he continued to offer me whatever medication, blanket, or drink I needed. I guess I finally slept it off last night because I woke up this morning feeling so much better! I couldn't help but thank God that I was better and for having such a wonderful husband who, even though I was probably highly contagious and very whiny, patiently stood by me without the first complaint even it was just a stomach virus. I am so very blessed! Now, I will be spending the rest of the day disinfecting the house...
