6 Months Old (Late)

I cannot believe it has been 6 months (like half of a year!) since my baby boy joined us in this world! I am so proud of him! I can't imagine what life was like before him. We love him so much! Happy Half Birthday Baby Boy Knox!
At 6 months: (Even though this post is wayyyyy late, I am keeping his milestones to their respective posts. I can't wait to share in my next post what he has done since he turned 6 months!!!)
  • He weighs 16 lbs and is 26.25 inches long which put him in the 23th and 41st percentiles respectively which you know worried me, but the doctor says he's fine. He just didn't gain as much weight as I had expected.
  • He is finally in size 3 diapers simply because we ran out of size 2s and I didn't want to buy any. Which brings me to a side note.... We have not had to buy any diapers or wipes yet! We have some awesome friends and family that showered us with more stuff for Knox than we ever could have imagined! I was just hoping for a few months without having to buy any, but we managed to get a half a year and still going!
  • Wears 6-9 months
  • Still no teeth.
  • Reluctantly, we started rice cereal at about 5 1/2 months. I guess the pharmacist and first time mommy in me wanted to stick to the AAP recommendations that you should only give you baby breast milk or formula for the first 6 months, but I caved and let me tell you I felt so bad about not waiting those extra 2 weeks. Silly!!! He was getting hungry in between feedings, but I was in denial somewhat. My mom kept him one Saturday while I was at work and she said the same thing so I decided we would try it. I could also tell he was getting ready for food. Everything I read said that if the baby shows interest in food while you are eating then they are probably ready and that he was definitely doing just that. He would watch the fork move from the plate to our mouths over and over and reach for the food. I can't say that he "likes" it, but he eats it. It seems kind of bland and gross to me, but we gotta get the swallowing figured out before he starts food. I'm kinda excited about starting foods, but at the same time it makes me sad since I won't be exclusively breastfeeding him. That's my special time with my little guy. :)
  • Other than adding cereal, his eating routine is the same including the couple of feedings throughout the night.
  • His sleeping patterns are also the same.
  • He has started to really get around. I guess you could say he's crawling. He's a little unstable and tip forward as you will see in the video below, but he's mobile nonetheless.

I  know I shouldn't have, but I couldn't resist a picture of Daddy and Knox during church.

Best $40 ever spent. Yep. Bought it used!

Knox likes shopping a lot more than Momma!

Knox and Creed. Little cousins!

Just for fun. This was how the 6 month photo started...
with him crying and Momma forgot the 6 month sticker.

Posts coming soon!

As Knox's first birthday is fastly approaching, I've been thinking a lot about the blog. Sooooo much has happened since I last posted! Thankfully, I have written many of the monthly Knox posts when they were due but because of my internet situation (ie wifi that should be called dial-up) and uploading pictures, they never got posted. I hope to get them caught up before he actually turns one. I'm also excited about FINALLY posting his birth story. It was also written nearly a year ago while I was on maternity leave. I have it written and saved with every little detail. I didn't want to forget anything. It never got posted either due to a different picture situation. I wanted it perfectly complete when it was posted (which meant the post would have to wait until I got the one picture at the hospital with my OB off my mom's camera). I finally got it and some more a few months back but because I had already waited so long, I thought I'd wait to re-read it and post it on his birthday! I'm already an emotional wreck. Like EVERYONE always says, I truly cannot believe he's been with us a year. I saw a quote on Facebook recently and it is so so true. The days are long but the years are short. Makes me sad just typing it. Anyway, time always gets away from me regarding the blog, but just wanted to briefly update and say I'm still here and updates are coming soon!

Baseball and Summer

I just realized I never posted this... It has been written for several weeks.

A few weeks ago, Knox and I went to Mark's last baseball game in Auburn. He played so good. I love that he is left-handed life his favorite aunt. :) He is definitely not in t-ball anymore. He moved up to coach pitch this year and you could tell it was much more serious, but oh so fun to watch. I can't wait to watch Knox play sports except I'll probably be the crazy mom in the stands yelling at the umpire/referee embarrassing my husband and son.

On Memorial Day we went down to the lake (Wedowee) where Adam and his dad bought two lakes lots. They are building a house on one of them to sell and I think they have plans of selling the other one too, but until then I guess we get to reap the benefits of an entrepreneur's work. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures, but we ate lunch and did some fishing and swimming.

Knox and I also enjoyed some swimming at MeMe and Paw's (Adam's parents) house one afternoon. I am really unsure how you would spell that? Maybe it's "Pa?"

Knox's 1st "Beach" Trip to Point Clear

A few weeks ago, we went to Point Clear, Alabama on vacation with Adam's family. We stayed at the The Grand Marriott which is actually on the Mobile Bay so I guess it actually wasn't a "beach" trip. Not to mention we stay in the pool the whole time. It was VERY relaxing and nice to have a few days off to enjoy the sunshine and water.

I got a new toy before we went. It's a GoPro Hero. I'm a little obsessed! Those toes... The clarity is actually much better than it looks. It shoots in HD, but due to technical difficulties (ie SLOOOOOOOW) with our internet, I have to upload them in lower quality.

And then there's Adam... HAHA!

Harris Party of Three 2014
All was well until the last night...

Until this happened... He woke up like this the last day. It looked like he had 3 bites of some sort on his face and his eye was swollen. It looked awful at first, but nothing a little hydrocortisone and time couldn't fix.

I will take the Mother of the Year award for it. You may not can tell what is happening in this picture, but this was Knox's "bed." My idea.
We didn't even bother taking his bed from home because it was too much trouble knowing he wasn't going to sleep in it anyways. We shoved pillows down between the wall and our bed then put his blanket over it. I will admit I did see a few ants crawling on the pillows the first day, but there were only like 2 so I wasn't worried about it.  I'm still not 100% sure that's what bit him, but we don't know what else it could've been. Poor thing!

One last family photo! Love my boys!
