On October 1st, we were scheduled for our next OB appointment in Birmingham in which I was 16 weeks. At our previous appointment, we had scheduled to do a "sneak peak" to find out the gender of the baby at the October 1st appointment as well, BUT I cancelled it about 3 weeks before it. It was kinda expensive for what was offered and I wasn't sure if I actually wanted to know yet. Yes, I know that sounds strange. So in between the two appointments, we tossed around the idea of finding out the sex several times. Everyone kept asking us when we were going to find out and I kept saying I didn't know since at the time I really didn't know. Eventually, I talked to my friend Elena and she told me about a place in Oxford called Advanced Imaging. All they do is imaging and it was so much cheaper. I made the appointment for October 1st, the same day as the regular OB appointment. AGAIN, I almost cancelled it the day before and I actually called the morning of to cancel but chickened out. Adam was really excited to know so I agreed. Finding out the sex of your first child in my opinion is without question the most nerve-racking but exciting things one could ever experience. I'm SO glad we ended up going!
Now on to the exciting part, but first I guess I need to admit that I was wrong. I believed in my heart it was a girl........ however, ITS A BOY! Another Harris BOY! And here's the evidence.

Let me start by saying, I am still in denial and still cannot believe its a boy. This is boy #10 on Adam's side. Two of his brothers have 4 boys a piece and his sister is expecting a boy in December. This makes boy #4 on my side. My oldest brother Chris has 2 boys and my other brother Nick is also expecting a boy in December. Zero girls. We will be going October 22nd for our anatomy ultrasound and I will be looking to confirm BOY then!
During the gender visit, the tech casually says within about 2-3 minutes of the ultrasound "I think it's a boy?" Y'all, I wish you could have heard Adam start hyperventilating...not really, just breathing hard trying not to laugh and smile. He was videoing with his phone so we have most of it recorded. It was so sweet! I am so glad he is getting a son! Adam has so much to give and teach a boy! However, he would also make an AMAZING father to a girl as well because he has so much love to give. I knew he always wanted a boy and I did too. I have always said I wanted a boy first, but after I had convinced myself it was a girl, I was attached to the thought of a baby girl first. It's such a strange strange thing. You know you are going to be happy either way!

The tech told us that they teach them in ultrasound school to look for a turtle (boy) or a hamburger (girl). I see it and if you do too, the head of the turtle is his boy parts. :) Before she got the turtle picture, she kept saying "I think its a boy, but there's LOTS of cord in the way and his legs are really tight. I can't give you 100%." Eventually, she felt confident enough to say its a boy once she saw the turtle. Despite her confidence, once we left I started feeling unsure again. When we got to the other OB appointment, the doctor asked if we had any questions. She looked at Adam and he said "Actually, yes I do. What do you think about this picture?" as he is pulling out the sonogram pictures from the other place! She looked at it and immediately confirmed boy as well. So I have felt better since then, but I'll still be on the lookout for a surprise at our next visit. :)
