4 Months Old + (Father's Day, 3rd Anniversary, July 4th)

Guess who's 4 months old???

This post is a little late, but I did actually take his 4 month picture on the 12th. I just wanted to wait until after his doctor's appointment on the 14th so I could post his new stats, but as usual I never got around to actually posting.

At 4 months:
  • He weighed 14 lbs, 4 oz and was 26 inches long which was 50th and 70-80th percentiles respectively.
  • He got more shots at his 4 month appointment without any problems. He was still a happy baby after his shots. :(
  • He is wearing 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diapers.
  • He is still exclusively breastfeeding at the same time intervals which finds me very tired these days. He is waking up anywhere from 1-3 times a night. Mostly just twice.
  • Which brings me to sleeping arrangements..... He still has his own bed next to our bed, but he finds himself in our beds most nights. It's just easier that way with all these nightly feedings!
  • He definitely has brown eyes and is now growing BLONDE hair back. I guess he is his daddy's child (at least that's what I'm hearing from most people these days).
  • We had a MAJOR MILESTONE this month! Exactly 1 year from the day we found out I was pregnant, Knox decided to roll over on July 7th! Just as I suspected, he rolled back to front first, but he ended up rolling front to back before the day was over. So I guess he really did both ways at the same time. I was actually lucky enough to get his first front to back roll on video. I was trying to video the back to front roll for my mom to send to her and he just happened to roll the other way while I was filming. I got way too excited!
  • Now that he's rolling, he's really on the move and gets bored in one place. He shimmy's down in his bouncy chair. Got a picture down below for your enjoyment. We bought him a bouncer thingy that hangs from the doorway (forgot what its called). He's a little small for it now, but he loves it! I can't wait until he can really jump up and down in it.
  • He is REEEEEEALLY getting his personality now. He laughs. I mean belly laughs. Don't worry, I have that on camera too!
  • He loves his hands. He chews and sucks on them constantly. About a week or so ago, we actually thought he was cutting a tooth. He cried for 2 days straight! But, then he stopped and their wasn't a tooth. Who knows? Probably just some relentless gas.
  • He has gotten to the stage where he is drooling a lot.
  • He has also gotten to a stage where he is starting to dislike the car/carseat. He doesn't ALWAYS cry when I put him in it, but I can't almost always tell when he is going to pitch a fit.
  • He still LOVES a bath or water in general. The bath is our last resort in the case of a meltdown. I have a sweet video of him kicking and splashing in the water. I can't share it on here, but trust me it's adorable!
Over the last month, I have officially survived a month of work. It hasn't been bad at all. I'm just very thankful I get days off to spend with my baby boy! I'm also VERY thankful for FaceTime so I can see my baby boy even while I work!
Y'all I don't wear glasses, but maybe I should...
Do I look smarter? Maybe people would take me more serious?
Adam's had his first Father's Day this year and I'm sad to report I had to miss it. It was my first week back to work which fell on my weekend to work which fell on Father's Day! I was so disappointed when I realized it, but I didn't let the day go by without getting Adam's Father's Day picture and letting him know what a wonderful father he is to Knox already.
Father's Day 2014
Heading to church.
We celebrated our 3rd anniversary which was much different this year. Instead of taking off to some tropical island, we took off to Birmingham the weekend before our anniversary since I had to work on our anniversary. We dropped Knox off with Adam's brother and wife (Ben and Wendy) while we went to Cheesecake Factory. Sadly, I didn't take any pictures on our date, but I did get a picture with my beautiful flowers my sweet husband sent to me at work! I still love Adam more every day! I'm so so so blessed with a WONDERFUL husband and father for Knox! I know I say that all the time, but it's so true!

I worked July 4th again this year. It's not so bad working holidays. They tend to be really slow days and the hours are scaled back 10a-6p. So after I got off, we shot fireworks with his family at our farm.
Got this sweet picture on the 4th while I was working.
Had my own little Independence Day fun at work!
Photos from the last month...

3 Months Old

Another month has rolled on. Knox is 3 months today. A lot has happened like I went back to work yesterday and Knox went to daycare! More on that later...
At 3 months:
  • He weighs... about 12-13 lbs? I tried to do the thing where you stand on the scale holding him then subtract your weight not holding him, but we don't have a digital scale so that made it pretty difficult!
  • Which brings me to the fact that we had to take his infant insert out of this car seat which made me so sad!
  • Yep! BROWN eyes. I think I mentioned this last time.
  • His hair is still slowly falling out. I can see it in his car seat and bassinet.
  • Still in size 1 diapers. I thought he would for sure be in size 2s by now, but no. I went back and forth a few times, but the 1s are still the best for him right now.
  • Still breastfeeding of course. We now know he eats about 4 oz every 2.5-3 hours. Yep. That frequently, but that's because...
  • He is still sleeping through the night most nights. He pretty much conks out at 8-9 pm and doesn't wake up until anywhere between 5 and 7 am.
  • Still loves bath time.
  • Still sleeping in our room in the travel crib, but Momma still sneaks him in bed sometimes just because.
  • He has started drooling and sucking/chewing on his hands.
  • We are pretty much done with the paci. He probably wouldn't care if he never had it ever again. Momma still tries it from time to time to help him nap. It works about 50% of the time.
  • He has a developing personality every day and is still happiest in the morning and cranky later at night.
  • He hates tummy time. I'm trying to do it more often with him so he can build those muscles to roll over and crawl, but he hates it so much that I feel bad for putting him on his stomach. When he is on his back, he arches it and pushes back with his legs. I suspect he will roll back to tummy first.
  • And because of that, he is a back sleeper. Oh but if he could just experience some stomach sleep one time... I missed that so much during pregnancy!
  • Wears 3-6 month clothes.
  • He's like an old man. Y'all, he poots when he stretches after he wakes up or when he coughs or sneezes. I'm sorry, but its so funny! Sometimes I have to ask Adam which of them did it.
As for me, I still haven't lost any weight although I have been running which brings me to the topic of breastfeeding. I love breastfeeding, but it can really be hard at times! It has it's advantages and disadvantages like everything. I aim to breastfeed for a year, but we will see how it goes. It seems I am sensitive to everything possible that could affect breast milk production. My milk supply will plummet in a day if I skip a meal, don't drink enough, exercise, or go too long without nursing or pumping. On the other hand, I have been experimenting with different foods and herbs to boost milk production and I can tell you they actually work. When I started exercising running, I thought my milk had dried up so I called lactation and they even suggested some of the herbs as well. I've tried eating oatmeal, drinking Gatorade, lactation cookies and smoothies made with milled Flax seed, Brewer's yeast, and rolled oats which actually taste amazing believe it or not. I've taken Milk thistle and bought some Fenugreek but haven't tried it yet. All of it works and works within 24 hours. It's kind of strange. I'm learning so much about the do's and don'ts of breastfeeding thanks to several friends that have helped me along the way. I've been able to pump extra and freeze it to use later and call me a nerd or crazy, but I'm proud of my storage. We had to get a small deep freezer because breast milk was taking over our frig freezer.
Enough about breastfeeding...

I went back to work yesterday which means Knox had to go to daycare at Mrs. Elizabeth's. We did a trial run at the daycare on Monday while I went to Auburn to have my hair cut.  I cried before I even took him, but didn't after I left him although it felt strange driving off leaving him there. Yesterday was a different story. I cried before and after. He did fine though and work wasn't so bad. She said he doesn't sleep during the day, but I already knew that. He sleeps all night and pretty much stays awake during the day. I'm sure he makes her job harder since he won't nap and wants to be held or entertained.

First day of day care. The trial run.
I wouldn't expect the weather to look any different the first day I have to go back to work and drop off a baby at daycare.
Pictures after I got home at 9:40pm from my first day back at work. Yes he was asleep. Yes I woke him up!
And some pictures from over the last month...

Pookie hates for Daddy to give Knox an attention.
AHHH. That sweet smile!
Trying out the Bumbo. Not quit ready for it.
