2 Weeks Old Already

Here he is! 2 weeks old already! It really makes me sad Knox has to grow up! Here's some pictures from today.

I tried to make my first trip to Oxford all alone today. All went well until we pulled into the first place on my agenda and was faced with an already crying baby. So, in the back seat I went. (I'm breastfeeding by the way. More on that in the birth story post.) 30 minutes later we had a happy content baby...
Long enough for me to go in 2 places. I decided to forgo the last and head home. And it was a good thing I did because he was a hungry fussy baby again once I pulled into the drive.

At 2 weeks:
I have no idea how much he weighs, but I know he's growing. I'm anxious to find out next week! We still haven't been to his first appointment which is scheduled April 1st.

He has no eating or sleeping pattern really yet. His eating varies, but typically it's every 3-4 hours.

He is pretty good at holding his head up already which brings me to "tummy time."
He doesn't hate it, but I can tell he definitely isn't a fan.

He rarely spits up, but does get the hiccups. ALOT.

When he feeds, he gulps then stops to breathe and hums when he's breathing from being out of breath. Hence, the hiccups but it's so cute!

He's got a pretty bad case of baby acne on his forehead, nose, and a little on the cheeks. It's driving me nuts there is nothing I can do for it!

He is still wearing newborn diapers and clothes.

We are trying to make him like a paci. No, I don't want him attached to it and I actually can't stand them, but sometimes it's the only thing that can calm them.

And one last pic before bed :)

37 Weeks

Today was our 37 week appointment. Let's just say I was more anxious than I was when we were going to find out the sex. I don't know why? I guess because I was so nervous about finding out if I was progressing at all and because my parents had driven all the way from Troy for the ultrasound.  It was a pretty normal quick visit. My weight and blood pressure looked good. I'm measuring 37-38 cm which is right on time and the heart rate fluctuated in the 120-130s.

Then it came time for the moment of disappointment truth....

I was zero % effaced.
And I was dilated to a whopping zero.

Good for baby boy. Sad for mom. I guess Knox is right comfy where he is. The good news is my mom said she did the same thing with my two brothers and me. She said she never thinned or dilated early, but still had us on or maybe a day after our due date. I guess she just did all the thinning and dilating at once. And I suppose all this 0% stuff is not all bad since it's there to protect the baby from infection and stuff. I'm not going to lie though, there was a moment of sheer disappointment.

Lastly, we did the ultrasound. Sadly, we didn't get any measurements either just piece of mind that he is in the right position for delivery at least for now.  I guess his weight is going to be a surprise when he gets here. I'm still thinking 8 something. My mom thinks he will be "small" like 7.5 lbs. Small?

Anyway, I guess we will see what has happened, if anything, next week at the 38 week appointment.

Anyone want to make any guesses on what Knox's due date and weight will be? :)

Baby Showers

Knox is so blessed already and he isn't even here yet! Let me just say that we are so grateful for wonderful friends and family that have showered us with love and support over the last few weeks.  Here are a few pictures from our showers.

JANUARY 4TH
Our first shower was a small shower given on January, 4th by some of our close friends we either grew up with and went to college with at Auburn or met in college at Auburn. It was at a small place in Lineville called The Young House. Everything was decorated perfectly! And as always, it was so good to get to catch up with our little group of friends.

The girls
We asked for books instead of cards. Adam particularly like this one because it said "Pookie" which may or may not be his most favorite K9 that will ever walk this earth

JANUARY 26
Our next shower was also a small shower given on January, 26th by my family in Panama City, Florida. My aunt arranged it all. She is so good at that kind of stuff! It was decorated so cute! I wasn't expecting all of that since it was just supposed to be family. We decided to have the shower in Panama City because as you probably remember all of my family lives there except my immediate family. We thought it would be easier for Adam and me to go to them than for all of them to try to drive to Alabama for one of the showers here.

Everyone! So glad we were able to include family far away!

FEBRUARY 2ND
And our last shower was given on February, 2nd by our church. It too was decorated so cute! They used Knox's room to theme the shower. The people of Clay County have always been so loving and supportive of Adam and me. Even though I'm not from here, they have always made me feel more welcome than I ever could have asked for.  From our wedding and now to our babies, the people of our church and community have blessed us more than we could ever tell them! And we are so thankful for that!

Mark (my nephew) and Rachel (sister-in-law)
Wow! Look at all that! Knox is so blessed!

Knox is more than prepared for his grand entrance because of all the thoughtful people that had a part in each and every one of our showers! Like I said before, we couldn't say enough how much appreciate everything!
