I can see I'm getting later and later with my monthly posts. Although they are late, the monthly pictures are from the actual day. With that being said, Happy (late) 5 Months to my sweet Knox!
At 5 months:
- I'm guessing he weighs about 15-16 lbs. Not sure on his length.
- Still in size 2 diapers.
- Wears anywhere from 3-6 month to 6-9 month clothes.
- He still doesn't have any teeth despite my suspicions a few weeks ago.
- Still exclusively breastfeeding at the same schedule and waking up throughout the night to nurse.
- His bed next to ours, however I'm afraid to admit that it still doesn't get much use.
- Continuing to grow his blonde hair back.
- I always say this, but he has such a personality these days! He smiles all the time and at anyone!
- I told you he started rolling over in my last post and since then he has started rocking. He wants to crawl so bad.
- Still doesn't really nap which makes him very cranky in the evenings. Adam has spoiled him at night by walking him around to make him fall asleep. I too am guilty of spoiling him to go to sleep... to put it nicely, like a good friend once said I feel like a human pacifier and that I am.
- Since he doesn't do a real pacifier and I'm not always around, he has taken a liking to his hands. He chews on his hands. I can't say that I like it, but it is what it is. It'll hopefully be easier to break that habit than the paci anyway. At least it's not his thumb... no offense to anyone with kids that are thumb-suckers.
- I said this last time, but it's official, he hates the car seat. I can't figure it out? I thought it was a short phase, but no. He does okay for a short time (like a ride less than 20 minutes), but that's it. And then sometimes he gets in a certain mood where I can tell he's not going to go in the car seat at all without a fight. I can't explain what mood that is, but I can almost always tell when he's going to fight it. As soon as his back hits the seat, he starts screaming. The car was a good thing, but unfortunately not any more. It's kinda unpredictable what kind of mood you are going to get with regards to the car and with that I very rarely go anywhere on my days off.
As for me... I don't know if I ever mentioned this, but I still have the hormone line on my stomach. It's very light, but I know it's there. Now, I know you probably didn't care to know that, but for documentation purposes, I wanted to mention it for me to remember. I also STILL have those sweet little 15 lbs I've previously mentioned. I also have started to shed. I once read somewhere that after you have your baby, your hair will go through a shedding process. I now believe that. Again, I wanted to mention this for my own memory. With regards to breastfeeding, I have feared that I was drying up so many times. I randomly go through phases where my milk supply takes a nose dive off a cliff and EVERY TIME I say that I "know" I am drying up, but it always manages to be enough to feed Knox and bounces back. Maybe it's his growth spurts? Maybe is hormones? I don't know. I just hope I can continue to nurse as long as possible. My long term goal was/is a year, but with going back to work and having to pump I knew it was going to be hard. So, my short term goal was just to make it to 6 months and I'm almost there! So here's to making it another 6 months. It's strange how much stuff affects milk supply. I've learned so much about breastfeeding... such as how important water intake is, your diet, pumping, supply and demand, supplements (Fenugreek, Milk Thistle, oatmeal, Brewers yeast), lactation cookies, and so much more! I know breastfeeding isn't for everyone, but I am so glad I chose to for many reasons. Although it can be inconvenient, I'm going to miss it in some weird way.
Some events to note...
Our group of friends that I always talk about decided to have a get together since it had been so long since our last one, everyone has had their babies, and it was summertime.

The whole group! My how our gatherings have changed!
Wouldn't have it any other way! |
My family also planned a day to get together in Auburn just to visit and get the grand kids/cousins together to play.
 |
| My nephews Mark and Jeff with the new babies (my other nephew) Beau and Knox. Boys boys boys! |
We also got together for a birthday party for someone in Adam's family. We had to take a pic of all the kids on his side. These are all of Adam's brother's and sister's and cousin's kids on his mother's side of the family. Did you get all that? So these kids are all either cousins or second cousins.
 |
Look at all those boys!
There are 2 girls in there on the right and there is a third on the way due in December. |
And some photos for the road...
I realize some of these may be repeats from the last posts. Why not? These were all taken after he turned 4 months. They just made it on the 4 month post because I was late posting it last time.
