"So Were There Ever Any Owls?" -How I Got Engaged!

It was about this time exactly one week ago today on May 15th that Adam and I were finishing up our first fishing trip of the summer and on the way back to his house. Little did I know that in less than an hour my whole world would be turned upside down and I would become the future Mrs. Adam Harris!

First of all, the most important thing to Adam was that I be completely surprised when the moment finally came for him to ask me to marry him. Therefore, he knew that if he schemed up an extravagant proposal, I would of course know what was going on.

Secondly, anyone who knows us knows that we spend a lot of time outdoors. Just by reading my blog, you know that we both like to hunt, fish, go to the river, and whatever else there is to do outside. But, one thing you may not know is that we often ride the 4-wheerler, mainly on Sunday afternoons after church. There's just something so peaceful about riding around in the country in the summertime just before the sun goes down.

Now for the story...
Earlier in the week, Adam managed to work into one of our conversations something about some white baby owls. He told me had been riding the 4-wheeler around his land and came to huge a cliff/rock/cave thing (as seen in picture). He said he got off the 4-wheeler to look around and heard something...He heard an owl hoot at him and when he looked up into the cliff/rock/cave thing, he saw some white baby owls. He told me that I must see them the next time I came to visit. Well, Saturday finally came. We did our usual Adam and Adrianne thing. We made an appearance at the Clay County Music and Arts Festival in downtown Ashland then went fishing. After the fishing trip, we headed back to Adam's house. When we got home, Adam said he wanted to show me the baby owls. So, we hopped on the 4-wheeler and went on a little ride to the spot where he would soon be on one knee asking me to be his wife! When we got the cliff/rock/cave thing, we soon discovered that the baby owls were gone. Adam said "Something must have gotten them." Of course, I believed him. No big deal. It was then that I made the statement to Adam "I have a vision for this place." (I was talking about a proposal of course. However, I would have never said that had I known about was about to get one.) He said "You do?" I just laughed and said "Yep! But I can't say what it is." I didn't have to, he knew exactly what I was talking about. He told me to sit on a rock (as seen in picture). I asked him why and he told me just to sit down. At this point, I still had no idea. Well, by the time I turned around to sit down, Adam had found himself on one knee. I THOUGHT HE WAS JOKING...only because I had just made the "I have a vision" statement. I thought he was joking...that is until I saw the most beautiful ring come out of his pocket. My heart sank! My arms went numb! My hands were shaking! I couldn't believe it! He asked me to marry him and I just stood there staring, not saying a word. And again, he asked if he could put the ring on and would I marry him. I said YES! YES!

After about 20 minutes or so of just talking and realizing what just happened, I asked him "So, were there ever any owls?" He told me there wasn't. He had completely made it up just to get me to that particular spot. He says that from the very first time he saw the big cliff/rock/cave thing, he knew that's where he was going to propose. And he did!

Adam did so good surprising me! Especially, since he worked the proposal into something that we do so often, ride the 4-wheeler. I had spent all day with him and not one time did he act nervous or weird. How did I not know? I have always thought I would be onto him when the time finally came, but I wasn't and I'm so glad! It was the best surprise I have ever received! Adam even had a secret photographer hiding out capturing it all and I will cherish those pictures forever! After almost 5 years together and OFTEN trying to imagine how Adam would propose, it was everything I thought it would be and much much more!!! Everything was PERFECT! In the woods...couldn't have pictured it any other way! :) We are in the process of setting a date. I will update as soon as I know when we're going to TIE THE KNOT!

Hello Summer

Good-bye school, HELLO SUMMER!
I cannot even begin to put into words how happy I am that school is out for the summer. Although this was a tough year, looking back it flew by just like I knew it would. After just 1 day off, I have already started back work for the summer. So, if you ever find yourself in Troy, Alabama stop by the Wal-Mart pharmacy and see me!

About That Time...

Q. About that time...For what, you ask???
A. For a 7-day marathon of studying & TO FINALLY MEET NEPHEW #2!

Today, was the last day of classes which means only 1 thing...FINALS! I have 7 more days of hard studying for 3 finals. Then, it's SWEET SUMMERTIME.

Tomorrow is Dead Day. Dead Day may also be known to others as "Study/Reading Day." It is the 1 day students have off prior to final exams and is set aside to do the obvious...STUDY for finals. HOWEVER, my Dead Day will be not be spent studying. Instead, my time will be consumed with welcoming sweet nephew #2 to the family. My sister-in-law is scheduled to be induced tomorrow. I can't wait! Pictures to come!!! :) :) :)

Until then, pray for JB's safe arrival into the world and strength for me to get through the last little bit of studying this semester.

Past Few Weeks

The past few weeks have been very busy like always, but I managed to squeeze in a little bit of free time to enjoy a day at the zoo for my nephew's birthday, Hargreave's Day (which is pretty much like a field day for the pharmacy school), and time in Clay County to go on my first turkey hunt.

A few weekends ago, my family and my sister-in-law's side of the family met at the Montgomery Zoo to celebrate Mark's 3rd birthday. It was a perfect day. The weather was cool and the park wasn't too busy. Mark blew out his candles around lunch, we ate cake, then enjoyed the park the rest of the afternoon. I can't believe he's already 3....Weeeell, not really. Actually, his birthday is April 30th. Rachel decided we should celebrate his birthday a month early since little JB might decide to make his debut around that time and rain on Mark's parade. :) He didn't know the difference and HE LOVED IT!

On April 7th, the HSOP held it's annual Hargreave's Day instead of classes (YEA!). Hargreave's is a much anticipated day when all the classes and faculty meet at Kiesal Park in Auburn to compete against each other in different field events in hopes of earning bragging rights for an entire year.
The field events are tug-of-war, wiffle ball, kickball, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, and the Beat Bama Food Drive also contributes points (whichever class raises the most pounds of food). Well, let's just say it can get very intense...the P3s were up to defend their 2 year title. But unfortunately for them, my class, the P2s won this year! We were so excited!

AND ON APRIL 10th, I WENT ON MY FIRST TURKEY HUNT AND ACTUALLY GOT ONE! As you know, hunting is something Adam and I enjoy doing together. I've deer hunted since high school, but since I met Adam I have always told him I wanted to go turkey hunting. After 4 turkey seasons together, he finally took me this year. It was so exciting. Adam called in the turkey, I made the shot, and his dad videoed it all. He actually called in 3 gobblers which made it even more exciting. I'm glad he was the one to take me on my first turkey hunt. He was such a good teacher! :) Turkey season is almost over, so now we are looking forward to the summer...going to the river and a little time for some fishing. He should feel very lucky I enjoy outdoor activities. Ha! He has my parents and two brothers to thank for that...

School is FINALLY winding down...just 5 more exams, 3 quizzes, and 2 papers to go. There are 20 more days until I am done with this semester, my P2 year, and summer will finally be here! These last 20 days cannot go by fast enough...

Wonderful Spring Break & An Even Better Day of Birth

Today was the first day back to school from a wonderful week long spring break. The first weekend of spring break, Adam and I went to a BEAUTIFUL wedding for some of our good friends (Wesley and Kathryn Pack). The wedding was so sweet and everything was gorgeous. I don't think it could have been more perfect. The best part was getting to spend time with some of our other close friends that were also at the wedding.

During the week, I spent most of my time in Clay County with Adam and his family.

And the last weekend of spring break, I was a hostess for the first of many wedding showers for my good friend, Samantha. I am excited for her and so happy I am going to be a part of her big day by being one of her bridesmaids. The shower was a monogramming shower. It was such a cute idea and was really fun. I'm so glad I finally got to meet the other bridesmaids. Can't wait until December 18th
Well, spring break was amazing followed by an even more amazing 24th birthday! I cannot believe it...I am 24 years old! As I've said so many times before, time FLIES! So many friends and family have made me feel so special over the last few days and today. It has definitely reminded me how blessed I am to have such wonderful people in my life. My parents drove to Auburn yesterday to celebrate. Adam, my brother and his wife (Chris and Rachel), and my sweet nephew (Mark) were also a part of the birthday festivities. We went out to eat. Then, headed back to Chris and Rachel's to cut the cake. The best birthday present was learning that my other older brother (Nick), who lives in South Carolina, will soon be living closer to us! He is moving to Atlanta. Since he has lived in SC, we haven't gotten to see him much because it is so far. But now, he will be so much closer and I AM SO EXCITED!

With all that said, I guess now it's time to get back to the reality of pharmacy school, studying, and awaiting the arrival of the newest addition to the Bazzell family. My nephew...due around the end of April.
